Chex Appeal

Do you have Chex Appeal?!?

February is right around the corner which means Valentine's Day is fast approaching. I've got an easy Chex Mix recipe that's great for any party and your Valentine is sure to love.

You'll Need To Get

9 cups Rice Chex® cereal
1 cup white vanilla baking chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup red, white and pink M&Ms
1/4 cup red or pink  sprinkles

Let's Get This Started

First, put all 9 cups of cereal in a large bowl.

Next you'll need to mix the baking chips, peanut butter and butter in a small microwave safe bowl. Microwave uncovered on High 1 minute to 1 minute 30 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds, until melted and smooth.

Now you want to pour the peanut butter, baking chips, and butter mixture over the cereal, stirring until evenly coated.

Then put 1/2 of the coated cereal mixture in a 1-gallon food-storage plastic bag. Add powdered sugar in. Seal the bag and shake until well coated.

After its all coated  spread it on waxed paper or foil to cool, about 15 minutes.

Now while thats cooling stir the M&Ms and sprinkles into remaining cereal mixture (remember you only put half in the bag) and then spread that mixture on waxed paper or foil to cool, about 15 minutes.

Once its all cooled mix both cereal mixtures together and serve.

Store in an airtight container.

Getting Started?!?

Wow! Who knew getting everything up and running would be so confusing; I sure didn't. Guess I should've asked my kids for help (ha ha). Luckily, after a couple hours at the coffee shop (hey they aren't paying me to advertise so they'll stay unnamed) I think I have it all together. For now anyways. I guess you can see I have a few post up already, but I'm wondering what you would like to see next.  Would you like another recipe, story, or a craft? Now, here is where you come in. Ok? Great, leave a comment below and we'll see what I can come up with.

WooPigSooie Cheese Dip- In time for the Cotton Bowl

Let the AT&T Cotton Bowl countdown begin! With 72 hours till kickoff I'm mixing up a WooPigSooie cheese dip sure to please any Razorback fan. We'll take that normal velveeta and rotel dip and give it a Go Hogs! twist.

You're going to need:
* 1 Large Block of Velveeta cut into 1 inch cubes
* 2 cans of  Rotel not drained (I use two original cans but you may choose your spicy level and use original, mild, or hot)
* 1 pound of pork sausage browned, drained and then set aside. (I use Jimmy Dean original or spicy but feel free to use whatever you like)
* 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed.

In a large microwave safe bowl add the cubed velveeta and both cans of rotel. Microwave 3.5 to 5 minutes depending on your microwave power, stir mixture and microwave in 45 second increments as needed to finish melting the velveeta.

Now that the classic cheese dip is ready lets put our Go Hogs! twist on it. The kidney beans you drained and rinsed earlier can now be stirred into the cheese dip; once that's all mixed together add the pork sausage you browned and drained earlier and stir till its all mixed together. Serve with your favorite chip and start calling those Hogs!!

I'm no Martha but...

I've always wanted a place to share my funny stories of blended family mommyhood, favorite foods and recipes, and maybe some DIY projects. So, here I am hoping you'll come by, read, laugh, cook, create, and share.
Now, let me tell you a little bit about myself, and my life. I'm a 30 something mom to 5 beautiful babies. Yes, I said 5! We are what you would call a modern day version of yours, mine, and ours. We share 3 girls ages 15, 12, and 8, and have 2 boys ages 4 and 19 months. Our hands are full. My hands are really full since I am lucky enough to stay at home. Life is crazy at times and often chaotic but I wouldn't trade a minute of it for anything else. My joy comes from my children, all of them, and I hope I can pass little pieces of that to you.
